  It is indeed a glorified manga/light-novel, but it fits the definition of a videogame in a very barebones way, so it is considered a videogame. Still great stories to read, i never read Umineko, excited for it.

  If you're judging visual novels by pure gameplay, I suppose you're right. There are plenty of good story-driven games out there. In fact, is the gameplay of visual novels actively bad? Umineko has voice acting. It's just like any modern AAA game! /s

i did just finish it 2 days ago so this is kind of post nut euphoria but truly and genuinely i kind of believe umineko has the same level of importance and beauty and meaning as shakespeares works or the divine comedy
