What is Glitchwave?

See About Glitchwave.

What kind of information can I submit on Glitchwave?

You are able to submit games, developers/publishers, franchises and characters. Please check the respective documentation, guidelines and standards before submitting any data on Glitchwave.

Can I see a preview of what Glitchwave looks like?

You can see a little of the site in these two dedicated preview threads: and . Please note that the pages are not final and are subject to change until the beta and official launch.

Beta information

How can I access Glitchwave?

The site will exist as a private beta up until the point where we are ready to launch all three new sites (Sonemic, Cinemos and Glitchwave) for real, which will happen simultaneously. People who contributed to last year's fundraiser and received the early beta access perk, as well as people who signed up for beta access earlier last year, will be given access to the beta for the duration of the private beta period.

We're currently not planning to expand our group of testers beyond that, but it's possible we'll allow more people in towards the end of the beta for stress testing purposes. In that case we'll announce it on the video games board.

What kind of info is going to carry over to the official Glitchwave launch?

During the beta, not all submitted information can be retained for the final launch of the site. Here is the information that will be kept:

Database data:

  • Games / Game Releases

  • Companies (developers/publishers)

  • Franchises

  • Platforms

  • Characters

  • Game artists/personnel (submitted via RYM 2.5)

  • Genres (submitted via RYM 2.5)

  • Roles (submitted via RYM 2.5)

User data:

  • Ratings / Cataloging *

  • Reviews *

    * Though the ids of all ratings/reviews will change once the site goes live, which can affect usage of things like the [RatingXXX] shortcuts. Keep that in mind.

Anything that is not specifically mentioned in the above list is subject to deletion at any time before Glitchwave launches for real and would have to be re-added once the site is live.

I would like to know some more information about the Glitchwave beta

Please check .

Should I participate in the beta or wait for the real site launch?

The main thing to keep in mind is that it is a beta. Some site features aren't finished or available yet, other site features may be broken or slow. The purpose of the beta is for us to find bugs and receive user feedback so that we can finish and improve all aspects of the site to the point where it is ready for the real launch.

The fact that it is a beta also means there may potentially be bugs that could cause loss of data, and the fact that we are still actively building/re-working certain parts of the meta-data (such as the genre list, roles list etc.) also means some of that information may be deleted or restructured at any point. It may also be necessary to shut down the beta every now and then for maintenance/updates/re-imports etc. so we cannot guarantee 100% uptime and availability of your data from now until the site launches for real.

If you feel like using the site while it's still in development and potentially buggy (including the possibility of bugs or changes that may cause loss of things you submitted) is something that would bother you then it's probably best to wait for the final version of the site before you begin submitting and cataloging games. But if that doesn't bother you and you would like to help us develop and improve the site and participate in populating the database with games information then the beta will give you the chance to do so.

Database

Where can I find the standards and guidelines for Glitchwave?

The first draft standards can be found on the wiki under Games. Please notice that the standards are not final and are still subject to change (especially during the beta).

Can I add... ?

  • unofficially released games

  • ROM hacks

  • bootleg multicarts

  • mods

Most of the above are not eligible for entry at this time (with some rare exceptions). Please see Acceptable content for an overview of which types of games can be added to the database right now, and which types of games are disallowed and why.

So all these will never be allowed on Glitchwave?

No, it does not mean those will never be allowed on Glitchwave. The initial focus of the site will be to assemble a database of what fits into a normal definition of a videogame release. Once Glitchwave is up and running and after the Sonemic launch, it will be possible to expand the scope of the Glitchwave database in a well thought out and responsible manner that doesn't cause a mess later on. Until then, certain things are just going to be off limits for the time being.

How are we going to deal with early access games?

Early Access games are games available to the public before the official launch, usually in a beta/alpha build that receives new updates, patches and features along the way. Such games should have the release date as the official and final launch date (or the date the game early access phase ends). However please note that not all games that are made available by developers/publishers without an official release/build fall under the "Early access game" designation. If the game did not make it to an official release, but was officially made available by the developers/publishers to the public in a playable form, then the date used should be the first publicly available playable release. The exception is for games that are not intended to proceed to a final version or exist outside of the normal release schedule pattern. This of course is more commonly applied to games from independent developers. Games in this situation will be dealt on a case-by-case basis.

How do I add/edit game people, genres and roles for use on Glitchwave?

For the duration of the beta game artists/personnel, genres and roles (for use in credits) have to be submitted via the RYM 2.5 site instead of via Glitchwave. You can find links to those queues on the Queues page.

See these threads for more information: , and .

Once the site launches for real all the above will be possible via Glitchwave's own submission system.

What game is Gregory Horror Show: Soul Collector from the fundraiser perk going to be?

Gregory Horror Show: Soul Collector is set to be "Gregory Horror Show", as chosen by the user who claimed the perk from the fundraiser.

Can I make a Glitchwave account impersonating another video game reviewer website or individual and add their review/ratings to the site?

No. Impersonation of any person or entity, or falsely stating or otherwise misrepresenting your affiliation with a person or entity is against this site's ToS.
